Personal Information Protection Policy

Recruit Sumai Company, Ltd. uses a diverse range of media including information magazines, the internet, mobile and real services to provide a space to "meet your opportunity" between companies and individuals in a number of life and lifestyle situations. Over the course of its operations the company handles the personal information of many customers and employees. Based on the company's code of ethics this policy and a system for managing personal information have been established to facilitate the company's responsible handling of this information.

  • Policy Section 1.
    Personal Information Usage Purposes will be specified to the greatest extent possible, and personal information will be handled appropriately within the scope necessary to achieve said purposes. Additionally, measures will be taken to ensure personal information is not used for other purposes.

    Personal information will be collected in a lawful and just manner.

    Personal information will not be provided to third parties without the consent of the individual in question.
  • Policy Section 4.
    In the area of personal information management we will endeavor to take necessary and appropriate measures to prevent and rectify disclosures, losses and damages, as well as to ensure other aspects of safe management.

    In the area of personal information handling we will endeavor to ensure the person that provided the information will be able to participate in an appropriate manner, and will to the greatest extent possible work to ensure contents are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Policy Section 6.
    We will observe all laws pertaining to the protection of personal information. We will additionally establish intra-company regulations on the protection of personal information. These regulations will be continually reviewed and observed.
  • Policy Section 7.
    We will establish a service window for the handling of personal information protection-related complaints and consultations and will endeavor to address such issues in an appropriate manner.

Regarding the handling of personal information

Recruit Holdings Co., Ltd. ("RECRUIT") shall respect the privacy of each person ("User") who uses [Name of the Services] ("the Services") and shall handle the personal information (as defined below) of all Users with the utmost care in the management thereof.

Personal Information

"Personal information" is defined as information related to individual Users, and indicates those parts of the information that can identify the User in question. This includes information such as names, addresses, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses, school names and other descriptors. "Personal information" includes information that cannot identify an individual by itself but that can be easily compared with other information to ultimately indentify an individual User.

Purposes of use of personal information

RECRUIT shall use personal information only for the following purposes, and shall not use any personal information beyond these purposes of use:

Voluntariness of the Provision of Personal Information

If items required by the site are not entered, it may not be possible to make use of the available Services.

Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

By rule the Company does not provide personal information to third parties without the consent of the User in question. Provider contacts and the contents of the provided information are, upon identification, given to third parties only in instances in which the consent of the User has been received. However, in the following circumstances personal information may be provided without the consent of the User within the limits of applicable laws.

  • A.
    It has been determined that the User will cause injury to a third party.
  • B.
    Instances in which there is a particular need to improve public health or to promote the healthy development of children, and in which it is difficult to receive the personal consent of the User.
  • C.
    Instances in which it is necessary to cooperate with government institutions, regional public entities or their subcontractors to implement work prescribed by law, and in which there is the possibility that receiving the personal consent of the User will obstruct the implementation of that work.
  • D.
    The disclosure of the personal information is required by a court, public prosecutor's office, police or any other organization having similar authority;
  • E.
    User has expressly requested that his/her personal information be disclosed or provided to third parties;
  • F.
    It is permitted by law or regulations to disclose or provide the personal information; or
  • G.
    The personal information is provided in connection with a business succession due to merger or otherwise, to the extent that the personal information is handled within the scope of the purposes of use applicable prior to such succession.

Outsourcing of Personal Information Processing

The Company may outsource personal information handling work in part or in full. The Company takes responsibility for the handing of personal information by the outsourcing location.

Usage of Statistically Processed Data

The Company creates statistical data based on personal information received. Personal information used in this manner is processed so as to not be personally identifiable. Personally unidentifiable statistical data may be used by the Company without restriction.

Personal Information Alterations, Etc.

By rule the User (and only the User) can request "Personal Information Usage Purposes" notification, the disclosure, revision or addition of registered personal information, the cessation of its usage and of its provision to third-parties. For specific methods, please click here. However, personal information may not be displayed in the instances described below.

  • A.
    Instances in which there is a possibility for damage to the assets, person, life or other rights and interests of the User or a third party.
  • B.
    Instances in which there is a possibility for marked impediment to the proper implementation of the service.
  • C.
    Instances that violate other laws.

In the event that the cessation of usage and/or cessation of provision to third parties (hereafter referred to as "Usage Cessation") of the relevant personal information requires considerable expense, or it is otherwise difficult to implement Usage Cessation and necessary alternate measures are taken to protect the rights and interests of the User, Usage Cessation may be refused.

Accuracy of Personal Information

The Company endeavors to accurately data process the personal information provided. However, the User is responsible for the accuracy of the contents of the personal information provided and for keeping information up-to-date.

Limitations on the Collection of Sensitive Personal Information

By rule, the Company does not collect personal information that includes content pertaining to the following. This limitation does not apply to instances in which the User supplies such information.

  • A.
    Information related to ideology, beliefs or religion;
  • B.
    Information related to race, ethnic group, family status, legal domicile (excluding information related to the prefectural location), physical or mental disabilities, criminal record, and other items that may lead to social discrimination.
  • C.
    Information related to workers' rights to organize, collective bargaining or other collective group activities.
  • D.
    Information related to participation in group demonstrations, exercising rights of petition or the exercising of other political rights.
  • E.
    Healthcare and sexual lifestyle.

Management of Personal Information

The Company endeavors to implement appropriate security policies to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of the personal information under our management. Personal information is kept in a safe environment that cannot be accessed by general Users.

Identity Verification

The Company uses personally identifiable information (name, address, telephone number, date of birth, e-mail address, membership number, password, etc.) for individual identity verification for each web service membership registration, when members use the services, and when displaying, revising, or requesting the Usage Cessation of personal information. However, the Company is not responsible when persons other than the individual acquire and use personally identifiable information.

Acquisition or use of attribute information and online behavioral history

RECRUIT uses Cookies for User privacy protection, increased convenience, distribution of advertisements, and acquisition of statistical data. In addition, RECRUIT may obtain, using Cookies, JavaScript and other technology, attribute information such as age, gender, occupation and residential area, provided at the time of membership registration, etc., which cannot identify the individual (limited to those attributes which cannot identify the individual by a combination thereof), as well as Users' action records within the site (such as URLs and contents accessed and the order in which such URLs and contents were viewed). However, no personal information shall be included in Cookies or action history records. For the avoidance of doubt, when a User uses the Services by logging into the same, RECRUIT may distribute/display advertisements after identifying the identity of such User.
